Mission Statement
The University of Pittsburgh Health Promotion and Disease Prevention Research Center aims to advance implementation science and build capacity for patient-centered, evidence-based healthcare to improve public health outcomes. Through original implementation research and consultation that offers implementation expertise, education, and interdisciplinary collaboration, we bridge the gap between science and clinical care, fostering a thriving society where everyone has sustainable access to high-quality care.
Reason for Action
- Healthcare systems fail to objectively implement evidence-based interventions
- High need for dissemination & implementation (D&I) science
- Precision implementation is underutilized when guiding the selection of implementation strategies for evidence-based interventions
Overall Objectives
Aim 1: Prevention Research Center
Create an infrastructure to develop precision D&I methods to improve public health across populations
Aim 2: Core Research Project
Test whether precision implementation can increase uptake & sustainment of diabetes self-management education and support (DSMES) among patients affected by diabetes
Aim 3: Prevention Research Center Network
Support, co-develop, and deploy precision implementation methods across Centers, partners & projects
